Space Wizard Science Fantasy Books: 12 books and 2 RPGs coming in Year 3!

Hi Folks,

Just a quick update: if you backed an eBook reward that contains an e-copy of Talio's Codex, you should be getting an email from Bookfunnel with information on how to download it momentarily!

Surveys are 81% complete, so great work (almost) everyone! I'm still waiting for the last few stragglers to fill them out (yes, I'm looking at YOU) so get those in so I can start sending out rewards! Space Wizard has a very quick turnaround, especially with the first few books, and I want to get them into your hands as soon as possible. I have the paperbacks ordered and on the way, but my wife and I will be traveling to Scotland the first two weeks of August for a tour, and then we'll be attending WorldCon (the world science fiction and fantasy convention). I'll be on some panels and have a table in the dealer's room, so if you happen to be there, come say hi!

The first shipments will likely be sent out when we get back, and I hope to have advance copies of Space Station X ready to go by that point as well!

Hi Folks,

I have an update and some exciting news!

I have all the surveys created and it's currently going through checking by the BackerKit folks to make sure everything is ok. I'm also waiting on the final checks for the campaign money to come through, which hopefully should happen in about a week.

When you get your survey please fill it out soon as you can. Our new books will start releasing this month (in fact I already have a few advance copies--see below!) so the sooner you pick your books and extra swag, the sooner they get to you!



There's another bit of news that surprised even me! BackerKit is running a new multi-creator campaign in September called Booktopia, and they asked if I wanted to join in. I thought I had all the books I was planning on already set out for the next year, except then someone came up to me at a recent market and asked where the "Lesbians in Space" book was, since we have a banner with an incredible graphic by Serene Chia (lower right, below):



So now we're going to put out Lesbians in Space: the Anthology. I've already asked some of my usual writers if they want to contribute, and they seemed excited about the prospect! If you enjoyed any of the previous years' anthologies, you'll enjoy this one. There will also be an open call once the campaign starts for new stories, so if you have a short story featuring a sapphic pairing in space, brush it up and get ready to send it in!

Hi folks!

Thanks so much for all your support over the last month! It's been a wild ride, but we ended up at $17,250 in total!

We just managed to pass our second stretch goal of getting 5 illustrations for the Fiery Deeps anthology last night, and then a generous donor helped us toward our next one as well! That means we not only can fund all our books, but also:

- Pay all our anthology authors pro rate!
- Have 5 illustrations in Fiery Deeps!
- Can help offset our costs from hiring our new copy editor!

Thanks again, so much for helping us put out 12 new queer scifi and fantasy books, as well as 2 new RPGs! I'm going to start putting together the surveys today to get those out to you as soon as possible so I can start sending out books!

I'll have another update before long. Have a happy 4th of July if you're in the U.S.!

Hi folks!
We're officially at $14,000, which means all the authors for the Fiery Deeps anthology this year get full pro rates for their writing!

We have one more day to get to our second stretch goal at 15,000, which is to add 5 new illustrations to the anthology, just like in the previous three anthologies. We've got 29 hours left, so please let anyone know who might be interested!

The goal after that is at $18,000. I'd love to make that one too, but that's going to be a big effort. But this goal is hugely important to our small press, as it's helping to pay our new copy editor, Courtney Brooks, and taking the financial stress so we can focus on publishing more great books! I'd love to hit this one if we can!

To celebrate hitting our first stretch goal, here are the full covers for J.S. Fields' new duology, Foxfire in the Snow and Oceans of Fireflies. They are about a nonbinary person in a society just changing over from magic to alchemy and science. It's a great read and J.S. Fields is a fantastic writer. I'd encourage you to back both books!

Wow! There's been quite a flurry of activity today, and thanks so much to all our backers for helping to make Space Wizard Year 3 a reality! We are fully funded!

We've got a week of the campaign left, and I'm confident we can hit at least a couple of the stretch goals in that time...

But for now, here's a fun video to celebrate both the $10,000 milestone and for the campaign funding as a whole!

I'm joined by Courtney Brooks, our new copy editor, and my fellow teacher and karateka. We'll give you a taste of what we do in karate class, as well as how some of this influenced my writing How To Operate Your Body.
